Abacus Quest
Move the beads to answer every challenge. Build place-value fluency, practise arithmetic, complete Flash Anzan missions, review a specialist learning report, and unlock a difficulty-based certificate.
Press Start Session
Choose four simple settings. Then answer by moving the beads.
How to useThe game keeps setup short and places the question, interactive abacus, current value, feedback, and controls in one continuous dashboard.
OptionsEach mode uses the same interaction model, so learners spend time practising rather than learning new controls.
| Mode | Purpose | Game output | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adventure | Progress through themed worlds | Stars, score, badges, level progress | Repeat visits and structured learning |
| Practice | Target one operation or mixed arithmetic | Accuracy, speed, corrections | Classroom and home practice |
| Daily Challenge | Complete a date-based shared mission | Daily score and streak | Daily return habit |
| Flash Anzan | Add a sequence of briefly displayed numbers | Sequence accuracy and processing speed | Advanced mental arithmetic |
| Number Builder | Build a displayed target number | Place-value accuracy | Beginners and younger learners |
| Abacus Detective | Rebuild a mystery number after a short preview | Visual memory and rod accuracy | Recognition and recall |
| Soroban Calculator | Explore values freely with the interactive beads | Number, expanded form, written value | Demonstration and self-study |
ReportThe four-page A4 report separates immediate results from deeper interpretation, mistake review, future planning, and methodology.
Session overview
Accuracy, correct answers, average time, best streak, game score, mastery score, rank, stars, badge, and settings.
Current analysis
Strongest operation, weakest skill, response-time trend, carrying or borrowing patterns, and rod-level error concentration.
Visual evidence
Question-by-question timing chart, skill bars, abacus rod heatmap, mistake table, and recent-session trend.
Future analysis
Recommended next difficulty, next operation, seven-session goal, thirty-day objective, readiness estimate, and scenario-based improvement range.
Teacher or parent summary
Learning objective, competency demonstrated, reinforcement area, suggested exercise, and next assessment.
Achievement close
The final report page records the unlocked badge and the learner’s next mission without turning the report into a duplicate certificate.
Formula and scoringThe displayed value and performance measures use transparent formulas. Learning mastery is kept separate from the entertainment score.

Tips and common mistakesThese practical checks improve skill without adding more setup fields or interrupting the active game.
Training tips
- Learn place value before starting timed challenges.
- Reset the Soroban to zero before every new question.
- Practise complements to five before complements to ten.
- Prioritise accuracy before increasing speed.
- Use short daily sessions instead of one very long session.
- Review incorrect answers before raising the difficulty.
- Say the intermediate value mentally while moving beads.
- Start Flash Anzan after normal movements feel automatic.
Common mistakes
- Counting beads that are not touching the reckoning bar.
- Entering a value on the wrong place-value rod.
- Forgetting to reset a bead from the previous question.
- Missing a carry or borrow between rods.
- Moving only one lower bead when several should be active.
- Chasing speed before a movement pattern is reliable.
- Using a hint but overlooking the complement relationship.
- Treating a game score as the same measure as mastery.
